Outline

Title :

a Wordaboutery

Logline :

Four travellers play a word game in the lounge of a backpacker hostel, and as each word unveils so does their ingrained prejudices against each other, that eventually culminate in a way none had wished.

Characters :

Feyda, a politically-radical Chinese American woman (29)
Mads, a proudly insular Danish man (35)
Lisa, an unbending New Yorker woman (34)
Nikhil, a solicitous Indian man (27)

Runtime:

71 minutes.

Place :

A backpacker hostel somewhere in India.

Keywords :

One-location movie; a micro-budget feature debut.

Information :

The whole movie unspools linearly, over a single night, in just one indoor location; and is envisaged to be shot in black-and-white imagery.

Director’s Statement :

The film is an attempt to depict the ways in which social conditioning and cultural prejudices disrupts healthy interactions between people of differing nations, by enacting a peppy social exercise that descend swiftly into an internecine conflict which none of the persons involved caused as a choice but had occurred as a natural outcome.
